Optimization

Optimization defined is: an act, process, or methodology of making something (as a design, system, or decision) as fully perfect, functional, or effective as possible; specifically: the mathematical procedures (as finding the maximum of a function) involved in this.

Why isn’t recruitment in there? We say every day we want an efficient, optimized recruitment department. Let me ask you this: Why are you not spending money to be more optimized? You say your #1 asset is your people.  Then why are we not spending on the people that bring you people?

Recruiters are the engine of your company. Resumes don’t just fall from the sky. It takes an engine and a skill-set to bring you the best candidate. By asking your recruiter, “where are my resumes?” is insulting to the recruiter and the candidate.  The candidate is not a piece of paper, nor a skill-set. Your recruiter is the detective that dissects and disseminates everything about that candidate and turns them in to an interested and qualified applicant. You should just hire the applicant based on what your recruiter learned. They source under rocks for you.

But your recruiters cannot go about it on their own, no matter what they say.  According to CEB, in the last year time to fill has gone up 62%. For white-collar jobs the average is 68 days. Have you thought about what that is doing to your bottom line from overtime, overworked staff and loss of revenue? I will tell you for a company (real company) that has 280 jobs a month, it is costing them $640,923.08 every 2 -3 months.

What do you say we help your most powerful engine in the company with proper tools? Trust when I say it will make a difference in many ways like, retention, attraction and peace of mind. And for your company, just say you spent $500,000 for example on tools, I guarantee the $2,563,692.32 you are letting out the door every year will decrease at a surprisingly alarming rate.

Please comment and let’s talk about optimization.  I would love to hear your thoughts. Plus have fun with Richie and Gail below.
